SAS-Bill of Material (BOM) Delete is intelligently designed to check if a BOM has been used within a set date determined by you the user, if the BOM hasn’t been used then it will simply be deleted.
The utility will also mark the stock items inside the BOM as inactive and perform the same routine on the Sub Assemblies, simply deleting the BOM and marking the items as inactive.
Entering your desired Date
The BOM Delete screen has a Date field, this must be completed in order for the utility to run. The entered date will be used as the date to determine if the item has been used or not, and allows the user to have complete control and security over which BOM's are altered and which are left alone.
Making sure you delete what you want to
To ensure no data is deleted by accident, we built in a prompt button that checks to make sure the user wishes to continue.
What happens next
As stated above, the deletion process finds all BOM codes that haven’t been used “up to” the date entered. The utility will first delete the Main BOM record, it will then traverse through the BOM record looking for any other BOM records and delete them.
The utility will then try and mark all the components on the top level BOM to be inactive, it will then traverse through the BOM and look into the sub assemblies and mark those stock items as inactive.
If the utility finds a sub assembly inside the BOM, it will first check the last used date and only delete the record if it hasn’t been used since the initial entered date (this is the same rule as the main BOM delete).
When delete BOMs\Marking Stock items as inactive, the utility will check the deletion log and if it has now successfully deleted the BOM\Marked the item as inactive, it will update the delete log with that info.
When complete the following screen is displayed. The screen details any failures and record deletions.
